Background Research
In the start of this project we learned about the intricacies of the earths crust as well as the mantle core below. We learned many facts and concepts about the crust, its thickness, our adventures of digging through it, and its movement. We've never been able to drill through the crust and the crust is simply the peel of an apple in comparison to the earths real depth.. Below the crust we talked about the mantel which has a constant cycle of carying hot rock up and cool rock down to be heated up again. Below even the mantle is the cores extraordinarily hot metal body that made of densely compacted liquid elements.
After an expedition of the world we live on and what is under it we learned about the vastness of our own solar system. We made predictive models about the solar systems and the planets or bodies in them in order to, given curtain information about a "Planet X", we could then make predictions about its other traits, such as orbital period, velocity, distance from the star we call the sun, and so on.
The vastness of the solar system is mind blowing but so is the absoluteness of the smallest thing mankind has split in two, the atom. We learned about how small these atoms are and the particles they are made up of. Mainly protons electrons and neutrons. We learned about electron "shells" or "clouds" . We also learned about how light can be thought of as both a wave and a particles, this weird concept being called "particle wave duality".

Day lighting Technique: Before we could design a high efficiency building we needed some practice in day lighting and how to conserve heat and light instead of using electricity. We designed models of 1000 square foot houses and used different techniques including windows, skylights, and clerestory windows.
Energy Justification:
We also went through the process of really understanding the benefits and downsides of different forms of energy by doing some research.

New San Marin STEM Building Design:
Content:
- Gravitation: F=G(m1 x m2)/d^2 - This equation clearly states the inverse proportion between the distance and the force of gravity as well as the direct proportion between the force and their masses.
- Clerestory Window - A long window on the upper part of a wall to allow only winter light.
- Living roof - A roof with some sort of boutolistic trait.
- Solar angles- The angle the sun hits novato at depending on the time of year, about 30 degrees in winter and 70 in summer.
Reflection: This project was a huge learning experience. It was one of those projects that needed so much background knowledge that it felt like lots of little projects at once. I felt like I did really well at work ethic and productivity given that we created a real prototype. I do feel like I could have done better in the leadership and collaboration categories do to the fact that me and my group member James had some struggle between personalities, not always working well collaboratively. I should have strived harder to work with him to make our project the best it could be. Overall, however I felt that I did a really good job on this project and put in a lot of effort.
