Project
In this project we were given full range to do what interested us in biology. The goal was to use biotechnology to solve a problem our world was facing. In order to succeed in this project we were meant to take past concepts and build on them in a way that gave us a complex understanding of the material. My group, Me, James, and Derek, chose to tackle the behemoth of world hunger. We decided the most effective way to help solve this problem was to use our understanding of macro molecules to create a meal replacement that could be cheap and good for the environment. This solution was chosen after a multi-step analysis process that gave us a better understanding of the problem and its possible solutions.

Concepts:
Superfood: a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being, this is what we classify our bar as. It contains all nutrients for healthy life.
Macromolecules: molecules containing a very large number of atoms, such as a protein, nucleic acid, lipid, or carbohydrate, we used all of these in the making of our bar because they are all neccissary for our bodies.
Carbohydrates: Simple and complex sugars that previde energy for the body found in the oats of our bar.
Protiens: Used for speeding processes with enzymes and for building and repairing the body, can be found in the walnuts and peanuts in the bar.
Lipids: Used for long term storage and provide support for the cell membrane, can also be found in the nuts in our bar.
Nucleic Acids: Used to store genetic information can be found in the fruit and grains of our nutrition bar.
Fiber: Controls blood sugar levels, can be found in the pears and oats in our bar.
